Like everyone else in the United States our house has been attuned to the Black Friday sales of the community’s stores. We explored all the sale bills of the major stores as well as most of the sales on the world wide web. We are a family of tech users. The house is full of technology. It has been very important for me to stay on the cutting edge of technology. But unfortunately I have migrated to what my wife and I call the “bleeding edge.” I only need to bring up the purchase of an iPhone to really bring this saying to an actual truism.
The iPhone is a wonderful product. Full of vision and hope for having the latest and the greatest technology available for communication, movies, music, web access, personal photographs, and emails. Why am I so unhappy with the latest and greatest communication devise ever created?
I think that the biggest reason is the fact that I was intent upon maintaining the latest and greatest technology in the household no matter the cost. I am embarrassed to say that I spent the money on this little gadget. The greatest telephone ever created was designed, unbeknownst to me, with design limitations. I had a list of movies, a plethora of recorded music, and an address book of names stored for easy access. I really thought that I would be stylin with this new techno-tool.
Alas, when I wanted to remain on the “Bleeding Edge” of technology what did the iPhone do? It put in a glitch that did not allow me to use technology that other lesser telephones use with great success. i.e., I was not able to use a wireless blue tooth stereo headset with telephone capabilities. I had a razor phone that it worked with very well. When I upgraded to the iPhone I thought sure that I would be able to use the blue tooth stereo headphones to listen to my music and videos as well a hands free speaker for use with the phone. Yet Apple saw fit to put in the code that limits the iPhone from using this new hands free device while viewing a movie or listening to recorded music.
For that reason alone I am mad at Apple for introducing something that was thought to be “Bleeding Edge” technology yet when applied to the devise I was informed that it could not be used. I have had my iPhone for over a year and my wife has found a blue tooth adapter that can be attached to the iPhone to make my wireless blue tooth stereo headphones work the way it should. The problem I have with this is the fact that I needed to purchase another item with more money to get the most expensive phone I have ever purchased to work as it should.
Apple has become a mainstay in everyday technology. Mac operators are a breed apart from everyday users. Apple technology is practically free of viruses so it is safe to use. Ellen’s daughter has even spoke of the Mac as the system that she needs to have because it is so good with video editing and just plain creativity in web applications. Yet for me I have no plans to advance the Apple line ever again. Burn me once…shame on Apple. Burn me twice….shame on me. Apple never again!
